Addlestone Hebrew Academy was founded in 1956 making it one of the oldest Jewish Day Schools in the country.  We are accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and serve children 18 months through 8th grade.

Addlestone offers an exceptional education that enriches our students intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.  More than a comprehensive secular program - more than a thoughtful Judaic program: Addlestone is the best of both worlds. In addition to language arts, math, science and social studies, our students celebrate Jewish holidays and study Torah, Jewish history, and Hebrew language. Our challenging curriculum develops students not only to excel academically, but also to make positive choices in a complex society. 

In addition, we offer art, music, computers, Second Step (social-skills program), physical education, and Spanish (6th grade and up).  Small classes, outstanding teachers, and age-appropriate creative programming add to AHA's appeal. 

As a member of SCISA (South Carolina Independent School Association) Addlestone students are awarded winners in state and regional science fairs, math meets, and literary competitions. Graduates attend the finest public and private secondary schools. 

• Addlestone has a keen focus on science as evidenced by the following:
  • Three of our middle school students were chosen to accompany the SC Department of Commerce on a Trade and Investment Mission to Israel.  Specific areas of interest included soil, water and environmental science, poultry and aquaculture, plant protection and bioengineering.
  • AHA hosted NASA for a professional development resource training program.
  • AHA’s 5th-8th grade students were involved in a project in conjunction with the South Carolina Research Authority to advance state-of-the-art renewable energy and sustainability technologies and systems.
• AHA’s 2008-09 Math Team tied for first place in the Middle School Math Meet.  Our students placed 2nd and 4th individually.
• AHA hosted a training for teachers in the Tri-County School District & local private schools with Norman Kuntz on Inclusion
• AHA facilitated a course in Hebrew for the language requirement at Ashley Hall for their High School students.
• The 8th grade class of 2006 had a 100% acceptance rate into Academic Magnet which is ranked #7 in the nation by Newsweek.
• Our 5th graders and up participate in an award winning video conferencing program with Bar Ilan University.
• AHA Teacher, Shlomi Nentanel received the Harold Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education in 2008.
• AHA’s Early Childhood Program received the LowCountry Parent Family Choice Award for Best Pre-school in 2007.
• AHA Teacher, Marsha Freudenberg received the LowCountry Parent Family Choice Award for Best Teacher in 2007.
• Former Principal participated in The Principal’s Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education for the past nine years.  The last eight of which he served as a leader.  The Principal’s Center is dedicated to the personal and professional development of school leaders who influence the character and quality of a school.
