Tiny Tots and EC2 PM Our younger children rest well after lunch and end the day with a brief circle time of songs and stories. EC3 PM Our EC3 program has authors and art as a general theme. We read books and produce art work that emerges from discussions of the stories. Dramatic play is added, and making a spring garden is one of our highlights. EC4 PM The EC4 program has “Around the World” as a general theme. Children are actively engaged in choosing the country they would like to explore. We generally stay in a particular country until our interests start to shift. This gives us the opportunity to gather lots of information and present it in a creative way. We enjoy having guests from the grades or from our community to share their knowledge and travel experiences with us.		Afternoon Programs While the Tiny Tots and EC2’s sleep, creativity and exploration abound in the EC3 and EC4 PM programs. The afternoon program starts with lunch and includes outdoor play; it is distinct from the morning program. While we do have set routines, there is less formal structure and assessment. We spend more time following children’s interests than teaching specific concepts. Exploration and creativity are stressed. We make use of the ‘experts’ in our school and community to help us do research when applicable (EC4).
Special Areas ♦ Jumpnastics fun physical fitness program geared towards the development of gross and fine motor skills in young children, once a week. Specialized teacher and equipment. ♦ Music We have our own music teacher, Katya Pekar. She teaches rhythm, ear training, singing and playing instruments, once per week. ♦ Library In the classroom for the TT and EC2, EC3 and EC4. We go to the library for special story time with our media specialist. ♦ Joyful Noise is a special Shabbat gathering during which we all meet in the library with Rabbi Delouya and sing Shabbat and holiday songs. Rabbi Delouya tells Torah-based stories about Shimshan, the mouse. Because of DSS regulations, Tiny Tots have Joyful Noise in their own classroom with Ms. Katya.
