Our School

Head of School Welcome

Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome to our school--Baruchim ha-ba’im,

Susan WeintrobAddlestone Hebrew Academy is a small school with a big soul.  Nurturing yet rigorous, we are in a niche that creates a culture of exploration and discovery, pride in one’s self and community, leadership and tikkun olam, improving the world. We see as essential the creation of a community with families from across the spectrum of the Jewish community. We regard the texts of the Jewish tradition and the history of the Jewish people as fundamental resources for developing ideas, beliefs, and values to shape and inspire our students and families.

  • We are committed to fostering a love of learning and to building an understanding that the discovery of personal meaning and the growth of the individual can develop from study and immersion in our program.
  • We seek to create an ethical learning community that embraces all: students, staff, parents and each person who joins in the work of the school, valuing both the uniqueness of each individual and the relationships each person forms with another.
  • We are dedicated to cultivating the spiritual lives of our students and nurturing their commitment to Jewish values, learning skills that provide an entrance to full participation in Jewish and American life.
  • We are committed to building bridges among the wide range of Jewish backgrounds, practices and beliefs within our community and reaching out to communities beyond our classroom.
  • We are dedicated to engaging our students in a relationship with the language, culture, land and people of Israel.
  • We are committed to inspiring students to become responsible, active and compassionate participants, developing leaders in the Jewish and world communities.

Comfort with one’s own identity and with diversity helps our children in the marketplace of the future. Our core belief is that our school should be spiritual community that develops character. Building community is part of tikkun olam, based on our understanding that each human is created in the image of God, betzelem Elokim.sukkah building

Supporting, accepting and challenging each child in our community are goals that require constant nurturing. Mentoring leaders among staff, students, parents and community develops the optimistic vision needed to support secure identities in our school.

We invite you to explore our community and share your thoughts and evaluations.  We appreciate your role in our journey to reflect and reassess our school.

With warm personal wishes,

Susan Weintrob
